The D4 ladies got their first taste of victory in the Bezirks women league on Saturday vs the 4th team from Neuss . Just a week before the ladies lost by 29 to the sister team Neuss 3 . Giving being nervous and having an U18w game on same day , ladies lost their concentration and the game as well . But Game 2 at home was more like our team. Neuss was a different team as well . Still Bigger but we were quicker and being a little younger was also a plus .
1st Q started out with both teams back and forth, but Barmen’s M. Farah got hot from 3 hitting 3 of 4 chances in a middle of the quarter run the ladies put together to take an early 13-9 lead. Neuss as well put a closing quarter run together to close the gap and go up by 1 . 15-16 . The 2nd quarter it took our ladies some time offensively , defense was good . Neuss missed some opportunities to spread out the lead and finally after 3 mins the ladies got going . Getting 21 pts in the quarter to Neuss 9 , Barmen was up by 11 at half 36-25 . M.Faraj w 17 pts and Big Al with 10 pts , 6 of the in the 2nd Q . the surrounding cast also help chip in in the 2nd with a 3pt for C. Ayari and F. Narey Cisse with 2 baskets .
Second half the game stayed competitive with both teams scoring 12 pts in the quarter . there were no real easy shots for Both teams . a lot of missed free throws on barmen part that could have helped but no luck . the score was still barmen by 11 after 3 . 48-37. the 4th quarter Neuss comes out for a last push to get close starting w 2 baskets before Alex and Mayar’s 2 baskets of 5pts to keep BTV up 53-41 . then Neuss again runs with 3 baskets to get within 6 . This moment the game was stopped because of an injury . I don’t know if it was a blessing or an omen . Barmen Bigs were in foul trouble with C.Ayari fouling out earlier and with 2 minutes to go Neuss might of had a chance . but Alex *Big Al* kept barmen up making 5 points and giving the ladies the win . 58-54.
It was a good win to learn from . the girls played together and they played hard . if we are going to make any type of challenge out of this year we need a balance offensive and defensively. we know we are small , but we have to learn to exploit quickness .
